Misidentified Photo?

A photograph published on page 117 of El Grito de Lares: Sus Causas y Sus Hombres by Olga Jiménez de Wagenheim seems to be misidentified.

The photograph in question is identified as being that of "Matias Brugman, Presidente de la cédula rebelde Capá Prieto No. 1 (circa 1868)". I came across what seems to be the same photograph on the Application for a Certificate of Identification for Arturo Benito Brugman Cardona on January 22nd, 1934. Arturo is a grandson of Matias. These images seem to be of the same person. In addition, I have a photo that cleary identifies Arturo Benito with one of his son Wilfredo Mario Brugman Puig, c. 1929.

I wrote to Prof. Jiménez de Wagenheim on April 18, 2001 about this matter but she has yet to reply.

Here's the evidence. You be the judge.

Puerto Rican ID application photo El Grito de Lares: Sus Causas y Sus Hombres, page 117 (1986) photo of Arturo Benito Brugman Cardona, circa 1929

Left photo: Cropped from Puerto Rican ID application form for Arturo Benito Brugman Cardona dated January 22, 1934.

Middle photo: Published on page 117 of the 1986 edition of El Grito de Lares: Sus Causas y Sus Hombres by Olga Jiménez de Wagenheim. The photo is identified as being of Matias Brugman Duliebre, circa 1868. This same photo is misidentified as being Mathias in the February 28, 1941 article Matias Brugman which was published in La Correspondencia de Puerto Rico.

Right photo: Cropped photo of Arturo Benito Brugman Cardona, circa 1929.

Notice that the tie seems to be same in the left & middle photos and that the suit is the same in all three photos.
